Understanding Context
Drop-down icon

Our surrondings change from place to place. This leads to diverse eco-systems and this variation may lead humans to adapt to their surroundings differently because of the availability and type of natural resources.

The setting created by different environmental factors is what we call the context. It is specific to each region. In one place, there might be resources such as clay & limestone while in another wood & slate. Each material has its inherent quality.

We focus on understanding where and for whom we are building. And just like an organism, we evolve our architecture to adapt to the environmental and cultural context of the site.

Defining Functionality
Drop-down icon

Just like logic in code, functionality precedes style. The context further defines the possibilities in function. In hilly areas with very heavy rainfall, sloping roofs are a safer choice, but this might impose several rules on the process of designing while adressing functionality.

For us, function and style act as the skeletal and muscular system respectively. If we must accomodate a certain style of your liking, we update the function simultaneously ensuring that our approach does not overrule your dreams.

Considering Sustainability

Understanding context is the key to sustainability. It adheres to the belief that built spaces should have minimal impact on our environment. Instead of just styling the way we like, sustainability provides a greater purpose to architecture.

We do our best to reduce the environmental impact of everything we build. We study the feasibility of features such as solar panels, rain-water harvesting, etc and install them whenever possible. Thoughtful architecture can impact your physical and mental well-being positively.

Interior Design

Extension of Architecture
Drop-down icon

Popular culture has drawn a dinstinction between architecture and interior design: interior design is pertaining to apartments while architecture is building something from scratch.

Keeping the definitions aside, we have observed that the real difference when designing interiors emerges in the approach. The possibilities are limited by what is already constructed.

Generally, interior design tends to be more about styling than context or sustainability. Despite this, we apply factors mentioned regarding architecture even in interior design although the order of relevance is not the same.

Creating an Ambience
Drop-down icon

Our environment is an amalgamation of various shapes, colours, textures, aromas, lighting, etc. Each of these properties acts as stimuli for our bodies and when we react to them, distinct experiences are created. Our minds memorize these experiences and associate them with a certain set of stimuli. We all like and dislike certain experiences.

We discern your preferences by asking you relevant questions and once we have identified your unique taste, we populate your home with objects that bring you closer to the experiences you wish to relive. We define this as creating an ambience.

Our Approach

Options out there
Drop-down icon

Contractors are often self-taught individuals and are ideal for small jobs, but for larger projects their inability to provide design assistance or non-transparent practices should be dealt with carefully as they can cost you serious money otherwise.

Small design firms partner with contractors and may offer only design consultation or even turn-key services. They often ensure transparency and manage execution well.

Large interior design companies mostly partner with small design firms & contractors and provide a platform for them to connect with clients. Hence, they often fare poorly at providing consistency in design quality and ensuring integration of design and execution. Also, despite being seemingly transparent, they are the most expensive of all options.

Most service providers either focus on just design or execution. To integrate both, they need to adopt a different approach, which they currently aren't trying to do.

How we do it
Drop-down icon

We have our own architecture framework called Open Design. Unlike most designers who rely on inspiration, our approach is based on thorough analysis.

Our in-house team follows this framework to deliver consistent design quality. We also update our adaptable framework when we find scope for improvement.

We partner with very few good contractors who meet our rigorous standards. We train them and have experience working together. This ensures proper integration of design and execution.

Unlike others, our in-house team of architects and well-trained partners ensure that each of our projects is executed exactly how we want it to the smallest of details.
